Early guests were carried from sound-side hotels and houses to ocean beaches by horse or mule-drawn wagons. When roads and cars appeared in the 1920's the ocean side of the island began to develop and increase in popularity. Some of the original ocean front Nags Head homes still grace the island along the Historic Row District, and the ocean side of the Banks remains the favorite place for guests to stay.
While Joe, Ann, and the staff have witnessed many stages of Outer Banks development, they have also moved through the years bringing changes to their company.
