BrewTag & More-OBX Fun in the Fall

Team BooTag launching a moderately successful fligh.

A snapshot of the 1st Annual Outer Banks BrewTag held Saturday at the Nags Head Event Site: lots of local and craft beers, fun for kids, great music and beer kegs don't fly . . . not well at least.

If this was the first of the BrewTags, then bring on the rest of them. Oh, sure, the seven or eight homemade gliders didn't do all that well in the flight category but that was hardly the point. This was about having fun, creativity and enjoying a marvelous Outer Banks autumn day.

Loonies on Tap, the winning team, managed a 20'9” flight from the 20' tower, defeating the Kitty Hawk Kites team by just 9”. Honestly, most of the aircraft didn't fly; the wind caught the nose and they didn't go very far. That's ok, though. It was a great day to be outside.

We have some more fantastic Outer Banks events coming up.

Artrageous, the Dare County Arts Council's celebration of the arts is next Saturday at Rec Park in Kill Devil Hills. This is one event that is truly geared toward kids, so for families it's a wonderful time.

For the adults, the Outer Banks Restaurant Week October 30-November 7 is shaping up to be a great way to explore local cuisine and have an excuse to go out to dinner. The Halloween Bloody Mary Bash at Kelly's Outer Banks Tavern on October 31-yes, that's Halloween-really looks like fun.
