Fantastic Start to Summer-Brewfest & More

Now that was a great weekend . . . Saturday it was Rock the Cape down on Hatteras Island with local group Hound Dog Family Band-great sound and a lot of fun. Big Daddy Love was also on hand so the music was about as good as it gets. Sunday it was OBX Brewfest.

Brewfest was definitely the highlight; 52 brewers, over 120 different concoctions to try, great music and fantastic weather.

As it turned out, this was the opening event for the Outer Banks Event Site. It was supposed to be Soundside Live at the beginning of May, but an uncharacteristically harsh winter held up construction and it wasn't ready yet.

It's just as well. Brewfest was an amazing success by any standard; people were happy, the beer was good-some of it memorable, and it's an event people will remember.

A lot of great music, but a big thumbs up to the People's Blues of Richmond who really rocked the house . . . or site in this case.

Then to put the capper on a great weekend, the Outer Banks Daredevils opened their season on Tuesday night with a 5-4 come from behind win over the Greenbrier Knights.

All is good on the Outer Banks as the summer begins.
