Last Weekend of September with Lots to Do

Scene from Artrageous 2013.

A little earlier this month we mentioned how many things there are to do in September on the Outer Banks and here it is the last weekend of the month and it may be the busiest three days yet.

Well, actually four days.

The big event is the 3rd Annual Outer Banks Bluegrass Festival at Roanoke Festival Park in Manteo that runs Thursday though Sunday. It might be sold out, but if tickets are available, by all means try to get here for this one. Two headliners, both really worth a look. Rhonda Vincent and the Flame on Friday evening and Ricky Skaggs Saturday.

The other big event is the Dare County Arts Council's 25th Annual Artrageous celebration of the arts at Rec Park in Kill Devil Hills. It's really geared toward kids and families, but anyone going will have a great time.

There's actually a headliner year as well. North Carolina Road Scholar John Santa will be on hand. If there is a stringed instrument that John doesn't play, it hasn't been found yet, although he really shines on guitar and mandolin.

John's going to be making appearances through the Outer Banks for the next two weeks, so if his name pops up, by all means check him out.

A great musician, but he may be an even better story teller.
