An Artrageous Saturday

How to make a hat from a grocery bag at the DCAC's 25th Annual Artgareous.

More reports from this past weekend, which seemed to have a bit of everything happening Thursday through Sunday.

The Dare County Arts Council held its 25th Annual Artrageous celebration of the arts Saturday at Rec Park in Kill Devil Hills.

Saying it's a celebration of the arts is accurate to a degree, but even more so it's a celebration of kids and creativity. There was hat making from paper grocery bags; a wonderful table that Pocosin Arts set up for kids to make jewelry; and Children & Youth Partnership was there with a table of crafts for the youngest children.

There was also live music and a marvelous dance demo featuring a Bollywood style dance with five or six kids trying their best to follow the moves.

The weather was spectacular. A full slate of soccer and football games at the Rec Park field insured lots of participation-there were a number of kids there still in their football uniforms.

A fantastic tribute to the Arts Council, creativity and community.
