Outer Banks Baseball is Back!

The Outer Banks Daredevils are back for another year of baseball. Playing in the Tidewater Summer League, the team takes the field every Monday through Thursday at the First Flight High School ballpark in Kill Devil Hills.

It would be hard to find better family entertainment than this. Ticket prices are very reasonable-$5.00 for adults, seniors and students, $4.00 and ten and under free. Concession prices are like something you would expect to see 15 or 20 years ago and it is a wonderful protected environment where kids can roam free and have a great time.

The kids taking the field are collegiate baseball players and the level of competition is very good. It is a wooden bat league-for many of the athletes it's a precursor to professional ball and the first time they have played using a wooden bat.

It is a very spacious park . . . don't expect any home runs. But the seating puts fans right on top of the action and for baseball nuts sitting behind home plate and hearing the hiss of a 90mph fastball or the break of a good sharp curve is balm to the nerves.

Gates open at 6:00 p.m.; game time is 7:05. It makes for a great evening of baseball and in many ways, this is baseball the way it was meant to be seen and played.
