TRASH AND RECYCLING

Important Information:

Each town schedules pick-up days in the summer to accommodate for the visitor population.  Please see all trash and recycling schedules on your guest app or on our website here.

Some properties have dumpsters that are located at the end of the driveway. Please make sure the dumpster at the property is not blocked by a car on the morning of pick-up.

Containers are to be filled only to the point that the lid can still be closed properly. Bags left next to the container will not be picked up by the town. Overflow (bags outside of containers) left at checkout will have to be transported by management to the town's center and the guests responsible will incur a cleanup fee.

Using each pick-up day scheduled by the town is vital in preventing overflow.

Containers are to be rolled to the side of the road (within four feet) the night before pick-up and the morning of your check-out.  Containers should be rolled back under the house on pick-up days after they are emptied. Leaving containers by the road can result in a fine from the town that will be forwarded to the guest responsible.

Please respect the difference between trash and recycling containers. Recycling containers filled with trash will not be dumped by the town. As a result, management will be required to remove the trash from the container and charge the guests responsible a cleanup fee. 

Overflow or large items placed next to containers will not be picked up by the town and will result in a management clean up fee. Examples of large items include broken beach tents, beach chairs, boogie boards, grills, etc. Please take all items such as these and overflow to town centers

Duck/Southern Shores/Kitty Hawk: 4190 Bob Perry Road, Kitty Hawk

Kill Devil Hills: 701 Bermuda Bay Blvd. KDH

Nags Head/South Nags Head: 5401 S. Croatan Hwy & 2200 Lark Ave

-Please submit a maintenance request form to report all broken containers including the serial number and issue (such as missing wheels or lid.)

 Trash Policy:

Trash must be placed in the designated container and stored away from the street on non-collection days.  Roll containers to the edge of the street the night before the scheduled pick up day and back to the home afterwards. Specific collection days are provided on your check-in packet (guest app).   Some homes have dumpsters located at the end of the driveway.  At some homes, they are located at the end of the street.

Recycling Policy:

Some homes have curb-side recycling containers. Place all recycling in the containers provided and stored away from the street on non-collection days.  Roll containers to the edge of the street the night before the scheduled pick up day and back to the home afterwards.  Specific collection days are provided on your check-in packet.
