Golf is a favorite sport of Outer Banks locals and vacationers and fittingly so, history has a way of making the OBX interestingly linked to so many pastimes. This centuries old pastime began on the east coast of Scotland when players hit small stones across sand dunes and around the natural open spaces of land. The courses here on North Carolinas east coast are tucked within sand dunes and maritime woods. The courses we have listed here are open to the public and are some of North Carolina's top-ranked courses.
The Nags Head Golf Links are notoriously challenging with sand traps, sea oats, native grasses, and shrubs, along the shimmering waters of the Roanoke Sound. Located in the Outer Banks vacation community the Village of Nags Head, the course is a Par 71, Scottish-style links course with 18 holes. Open year-round, the course has been recognized by Golf Digest as the one of the most beautiful in the eastern U.S. as well as featured in Golf Week and Southern Golf magazines as a favorite amongst golfers looking for a challenging course to play. Fully stocked pro-shop and on-site bar and grill. Proper golf attire is required at all times.
The Pointe Golf Club is Golf at its Best! The Pointe is consistently known for its excellent services and professionally groomed fairways. In addition to the beautifully kept 18 hole course, The Pointe offers a driving range, practice putting and chipping areas, as well as a full pro shop. Don't forget to grab lunch at The Pointe Grille before or after your golf outing! Only a 3.5 mi drive into Currituck County from Kitty Hawk, The Pointe Gulf Club is only a short drive away.
The Carolina Club offers 5 sets of tees and is just a 13 mile drive across the Wright Memorial Bridge from Kitty Hawk. The Pointe Golf Club's sister course, The Carolina Club is a par 72, bent grass green course and is favorite among local golfers as well as those enthusiasts looking for what is rated as the finest putting surfaces in the southeastern US. Enjoy a meal at Tucker's Bar and Grille. Carolina Club also offers a fully-stocked pro shop able to support any golfer's needs.
Holly Ridge Golf Course is located just 8 miles from our office in Kitty Hawk in Harbinger. A short trip off the beach across the Wright Memorial Bridge can be well worth the trip. Holly Ridge is a straight-forward, 18 hole par 71 course well-kept course that offers a great golf experience at a fantastic price. There is a lighted driving range open until 9:30pm. Former LPGA Major winner, Kathy Johnston-Forbes, is available to offer her professional expertise that she gained from years of experience.
The Currituck Club in Corolla is an 18 hole championship course that offers the true Outer Banks golf experience. The Currituck Club was designed by Rees Jones, an award-winning course designer. The course was designed in a way that allows each golfer to enjoy the beauty of the maritime woods of the Outer Banks while challenging their golf skills. The Currituck Club also includes a driving range, practice bunker, and practice putting green.
