Owners

Same beach. Same week. Your own key.

If the Outer Banks has become your family's place, here's how owning a piece of it can work.

One way an owner's year can look

You keep the weeks you love. The rest can be rented to guests like you.

A year calendar in four rows, one per quarter of the months shown: 3 weeks reserved for the owner, 24 weeks rented to guests, and 21 weeks open.

Illustration only. Every home and every year is different.

How owning works when you're not here

Most of the homes our guests stay in are owned by families who live somewhere else. They enjoy the house when they want it, and our management team takes care of the rest.

You pick your weeks

Keep the weeks your family wants: the summer week you've been booking for years, a quiet fall weekend, or both. We tailor the management plan to how you want to use the home.

We rent the rest

Your other weeks are marketed through our website, travel partners, social media and our database of past guests, the same guests who found their way to you.

We look after the house

Housekeeping, preventive maintenance, inspections after every stay, and a live operator for guests after hours. You follow reservations and accounting from home through your owner portal.

We are very happy with how well our property is being taken care of and we couldn't be more pleased with the amount of rental income you are generating.

Questions guests usually ask

Can we still use the house ourselves?

Yes. Owners keep the weeks they want for their own family. Our management team will walk you through how that works for the home you're considering.

Does renting it out cover the cost of owning?

It depends on the home, its location, how many weeks you keep, and the year. Rental income offsets a meaningful share of costs for some homes and less for others. We'll show you real booking history for the homes you're considering, not a guess.

How do we keep track of it from home?

Every owner gets a private portal with reservations, documents and accounting, plus access to work orders and guest reviews. Most of our owners live out of town.

Do we have to use Joe Lamb to manage it?

No. But buyers who plan to rent usually do, because the home joins a program that already has guests, housekeeping and maintenance in place.

We live a few hours away. How does buying work?

Most of our buyers aren't local. Our agents can plan showings around a trip you're already taking and keep you updated from home through the rest of the process.
