Alive and Well on the Outer Banks

Christmas is coming and there is lots to do on the Outer Banks.

Next week Thursday the December 5 kicks off the Outer Banks Hotline 25th Annual Festival of Trees at Jennette's Pier that runs through the weekend. A great event for a great cause event gives toys to kids who may not get any otherwise and creates much needed funding for a worthy cause.

Friday is the Manteo tree lighting--which is about as an all American celebration as it gets. High school choirs singing, hot food from a local church, local talent on display--it fun and gives a shot in the arm to the Christmas spirit..

Duck's Yuletide Event is Saturday evening with the lighting of the crabpot tree--hard to imagine but it works. The Duck Santa is outstanding, and this year, music by Duck Jazz Festival standout, Emme St. James and Her Jazz Gentlemen.

Then the following weekend the Dare County Arts Council annual Chillin' for the Arts. We had a lot of fun at last year's event and hopefully more fun this year, and it is all for a good cause.

And, of course, the Poulos house on Ocean Acres will be lit once again this year. Spectacular and wonderful.
