First Friday-OBX Summer Festival

First Flight High School Advanced Jazz Band performing at First Friday in Manteo.

One of the best parts of summer on the Outer Banks is First Friday in Manteo held, well, the first Friday of every month in Manteo.

Part celebration of the arts, small town life and the Outer Banks, for anyone who is visiting the area during that first week of the month, it's a must for the to do list.

The June First Friday was a perfect example of how great the event is.

The Manteo and First Flight High School Jazz Bands performed on the steps of the old Dare County Courthouse that's now the home of the Dare County Arts Council. They sounded amazing! These kids were taking on some pretty difficult music and they performed it wonderfully.

Inside the Arts Council Gallery new artist Travis Fuller was being introduced to the world, and his whimsical and often thought provoking paintings attracted a lot of attention and a lot of praise.

Bars and restaurants were open and with sidewalk cafes serving customers and live music everywhere.

All of the sounds, all of the gathering of people coming together to create a perfect introduction to an Outer Banks summer.
