Outer Banks Taste of the Beach Next Weekend

Hard to imagine but the 2014 version of the Outer Banks Taste of the Beach is almost upon us. Next weekend–actually starting Thursday–four days of amazing food, great demonstrations., beer and wine and a couple of cook-offs.

The Outer Banks Taste of the Beach isn’t like any other “Taste of…” out there. Most places get a bunch of restaurants and food vendors together, gather them all in one place and turn everyone loose. Not the Outer Banks. Here it’s as much a tour of every town restaurant between Manteo and Corolla, as it is a festival of great food and creative chefs.

And . . . it looks like the weather is going to cooperate . . . Friday, Saturday and Sunday especially look to be sunny and cool.

That’s a good thing, especially Friday with the Joe Lamb BBQ Showdown at the Sea Ranch in Kill Devil Hills. Noon-3:30. It’s an outdoor event, so dress accordingly. The Sea Ranch is right on the beach, so maybe a sweater or windbreaker will be a good idea.

It’s all you can eat for $20 and definitely kid-friendly. Music provided by Jonny Waters and Company–sort of a redefined country rock sound. Great music, perfect for the day.
